3. WALTER JAMES⁴ OACHS (FRANK³, PETER CHARLES² OCHS, PETER¹) was born 06 Apr 1901, and died 18 Oct 1961. He married DOROTHY ALICE WILKINS 05 Oct 1927, daughter of FRED WILKINS and JESSIE BACON. She was born 05 Mar 1906 in Herman, Grant, Minnesota, and died 28 Feb 1988 in Barrett Care Center, Minnesota (Obituary: Dorothy Alice Oachs, age 81, died Sunday, February 28, 1988 at the Barrett Care Center in Barrett. She was born at Herman March 5, 1906, the daughter of Fred and Jessie Bacon Wilkins. She graduated from Herman High School in 1923. On October 5, 1927, she was united in marriage to Walter J. Oachs. They farmed in the Herman-Norcross area until he passed away on October 18, 1961. Dorothy moved into Herman in 1962 and lived there until she entered the Barrett Care Center in July of 1984.She was a lifetime member of the Herman United Methodist Church and was very active in the activities of the United Methodist Women. She was also a long time member of the Wild Rose Rebekah Lodge of Herman.Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 2, at 11 a.m. at the Herman United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clyde Johnson officiating. Music was provided by Lois Bartell, organist and the Men's Quartet consisting of Leonard Blume, Neil Blume, Neil Hanson and Sterling Luikens, Karen Hurlbut, granddaughter, read the scripture.Pallbearers were grandsons, Mark, Bradley, Douglas, Daniel, David, Michael and Dean Oachs. Interment in Lakeside Cemetery in Herman.She is survived by three sons, Kent of Edina, James and Gerald of Herman, ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; an infant son; her parents; her step-father, A. H. Dick Blume; and brothers Llewellyn and Floyd Wilkins.)
