vii. VELMA OACHS, b. 1922; m. LYLE THYSE. Obituary, Free Press, Mankato: Velma H. Thyse, 85 of Mapleton, died Saturday, April 7, 2007 at the Mapleton Community Home. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at United Church of Mapleton with Rev Keith Purscell officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Minneopa Cemetery. Olson-Tichenor Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Velma was born August 22, 1921 to Milton and Martha (Bartch) Oachs at their home in rural Blue Earth County. She married Lyle Thyse on June 7, 1937 in rural Mapleton. She is survived by a daughter, Gloria (Jim) Matteson of Mankato; son, Bradley (Kay) Thyse of St. Croix Falls, WI; four grandchildren: Michele (Robert) Groskreutz of Mapleton, Darryl and Todd Salfer, both of North Mankato, Deborah Thyse of St. Croix Falls, WI; one great-grandson, Dylan Groskreutz of Mapleton; three sisters Leila Lentz of Mapleton, Bernita Getty of Kissimmee, FL, and Sally Johnson of Willernie, MN; two brothers Mac Stacy of Procter, MN and Alfred Oachs of Mankato; five sisters-in-law: Beatrice, Verona, Margaret, and Jeannie Oachs, and Vera Pickering; Velma was preceded in death by her husband; son, Tyrone; five brothers: Orval, Thorl, Milton, Walt and Lester; one sister Valeria.
